Ukraine War Kinetic Illustrations '2025
Hello there and welcome to my page dedicated to my H496 Artifacts and showcase! This is a compilation of my favorite Honors College Experience which was the Kinetic Illustration assignment I created for my Intermediate Illustration Class in 2025.
I am thinking about including this project from my Kinetic Illustration Honors Contract because it is one of the better Honors Contracts I have made over the years as an Honors student here at IUI. I am just going to include the two gifs that I made for the class as that was part of the assignment and took the most time and effort out of any Honors Contract I have done before.
Kinetic Illustration Honors Contract
In the Spring of 2024, I took an Intermediate Illustration course and one of our assignments was to create an animated or Kinetic Illustration of any brand, social cause, or topic that we wanted; so I decided to create a series of two Illustrations commenting on the Ukraine War. For this contract I decided to create an extra Kinetic illustration for this course in order to further my skills in illustration and beginner animation to add to my professional portfolio development. This was at a certain stage in both my Honors and artistic career where experimentation with media and subject matter were of greater focus to me to showcase my diverse skill set as well as showing diversity in my professional artist portfolio.

Progress and Reflection

'Slava Ukraini' Kinetic Illustration 1, 2025
This was the first kinetic illustration that I made over the course of this Honors Contract, where I was given three weeks to create two fully finished animated illustrations. I initially was very motivated to create these illustrations, looking to incorporate my Ukrainian Identity with current social events of the Ukraine War in this form of Protest Art. However, as I continued to do this hand drawn animation, I quickly became horribly burnt out with the monotonous task of drawing the same items over and over again. This resulted in me at certain points in the creative process rushing and hustling myself to finish these illustrations on time. But through this Honors Experience, I begun to learn the importance of proper project planning and working hard to give deliverables to my Honors College and Professors on time.

Continuing throughout this Honors Experience, I began to expand my own artistic senses as a strict 2D Illustrator by experimenting with animation throughout this contract. As an artist, it really opened my mind to other creative avenues of animation and motion design and began to increase my interest in the medium and how I can incorporate it into my own artistic practices. As a result of this project I have begun to dabble more and more into graphic design and slight motion design in order to help build more relevant artistic skills for my future career. These skills of time management, experimentation, discovery, and perseverance I began to understand what it means to meet deadlines, expediting creative processes, learning to be experimental in my own work, as well as completing assignments regardless of deadlines.
